Hotham Park - Originally the home of Sir Richard Hotham
Set within 20 acres, the grounds of Hotham Park was once the home of the Founder of Bognor Regis as a Seaside Resort.
Sir Richard Hotham''s house which he built in 1792, stands as reminder of somone who long ago saw the potential of Bognor Regis because if its location and built on it.
The original house is now privately owned and can be seen in Hotham Park. Hotham Park is located just five minutes walk from the town centre and 2 minutes from the beach. In 2008/9 Hotham Park underwent a £2.2 million restoration project to improve facilities which although are now complete as of August 2009, further work is ongoing.
Regular music events take place at the bandstand within the grounds during the summer months. There is also a miniature railway which runs through the park, and a great way to view the park.
Other facilities at Hotham Park Include:
- Boating lake
- Mediterranean and tropical gardens with specimen trees from around the world.
- Café - (open Easter-October)
- Children''s play area
- Tennis courts
- An 18 hole putting green as well separate crazy golf course.
There is no admission fee to the park itself, and only small charges for use of the concessionary facilities such as the miniature railway, boating lake, tennis and golf etc.
Hotham Park is a great place for all the family.
